Sunflower Chess

A 2 person Chess-like strategy game inspired by Onitama from Shimpei Sato. Built for the Playdate! Win by taking the enemy king or controlling the king's starting tile! Controls: Use the d-pad to move around the board. Press A or B to select the corresponding movement card and A again to confirm your movement.  After selecting your move, rotate the crank to change the orientation of the card. The opponent will use this card at the end of their next turn, so make sure to rotate wisely!

Story Time

There once was a vicious rivalry between two factions, the Vikings and Knights. Their powerful overlords commanded their pawns to protect them at all costs of saving themselves. This is the Battle of Exampleton.

The Knights begin their attack, one of the  pawns contemplates their decision for movement. They have several options, but chooses to flank from the left side.

They also contemplate yelling to their opponent for a switch in the enemy positioning, but decides that their inevitable, next mode of attack is good for their friendly Knights.

The Vikings are next on the chopping block, so they jump headfirst into battle.

The Vikings recognize their positioning is at a fault. So the overlord uses their might to put the Knights in a disadvantageous position.

But to their demise, the Knights already had a card up their sleeve...

And that was the Battle of Exampleton. But while the Knights won the battle, they didn't win the war. ⚔️
